Although we are winding down our fall semester we are still getting lots of sign ups. Today would be a great time to sign up for music lessons and get a few in before the January semester starts. We have a rotating schedule so students don’t have to wait until the start of a semester to sign up! We have a fantastic roster of music teachers for all instruments including; piano, voice, saxophone, guitar, drums, bass, trumpet, flute, violin, viola and cello. Here is a bio for our teachers; http://monumentsquaremusic.com/about/instructors/ We absolutely love serving the Leominster, Sterling, Worcester area with all types of music instruction!
We are thrilled to be back for another year of lessons and finally back to in-person music lessons! Online lessons are still available to those who prefer, and many of our students have found online to be a convenient and fun way to learn. Next year is our 10th anniversary of being a music school and offering awesome music lessons in the Leominster area, and it has been amazing to watch our teachers and students grow throughout the years. Some of our students have even been with us the entire time and we have had the privilege of watching them grow and develop into incredible musicians. Our teachers have done amazing things musically and creatively as performers and teachers. We definitely encourage you to read through our faculty biographies and give search our teachers. Their is a lot of amazing music coming from these talented people! faculty bios.
Encouraging and nurturing the development of students and watching teacher’s progress throughout their careers has been one of the greatest parts of having a music school and gathering an artistic community like this. We look forward to what 2021 will bring!
We are so grateful to be back teaching music lessons again for another school year. Things look and feel different now that we have converted to mostly online. We still have our awesome location, a store front in downtown Leominster ready for when we get back to in-person lessons, but the online lessons are going very smoothly and we are lucky that we can continue teaching, learning and playing even through the pandemic. We are still offering lessons for all instruments and we have even added a trumpet teacher Brian Koning and piano teacher Maya Douglas. Both of these musicians are fantastic players and great teachers. We haven’t offered trumpet lessons in a while so it is good to be able to complete our roster and with such a fantastic musician. Brian plays in the Worcester jazz collective and also is a great composer and arranger. Maya is a fantastic classical pianist with a very unique style, and someone we are very excited to have on board. Late last semester a great singer and songwriter, Hannah Robuccio also joined our faculty and is accepting vocal students. Here’s a clip of Hannah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zewHfz-tr9Q
We are so excited for the new school year! Getting three new fantastic teachers is so exciting for us and we are always passionate about having top notch faculty on our team and I think that is one of the things that makes our school so successful and one of the reasons our students excel!
Last spring and this summer’s lessons have been virtual… and it is going great! This is something we have been thinking about doing for years and we are so grateful that we were still able to provide lessons during the pandemic. We still have our space in downtown Leominster and are ready to start music lessons in person when parents and teachers feel it is safe, but in the meantime this is working so well, and in some ways is more convenient and more comfortable for students. Not only that but we were able to expand our student base and now are teaching students from all over the country. We also have added two amazing teachers to our already fantastic faculty list and truly feel so positive and optimistic about the upcoming season!
For my personal students, I have noticed that they have all become so much more independent since virtual lessons started in March. They have had to keep time (rhythm) by themselves and be completely independent as performers. I have found ways to have them perform with play-alongs, and youtube has turned out to be a great source for that, but the independence my students have gained playing alone, particularly rhythmically, has been a happy surprise for me.
I think online lessons are a thing everybody should try. For some people it works BETTER than in person lessons. Everyone is different but I suspect some students will choose to remain virtual even when in person lessons start back up. The pandemic forced us into a bit of an experiment with virtual lessons starting in March but I am so happy to report overwhelmingly positive results. I also know that we will continue to improve the virtual lessons experience with technology in sound and video, and this format will continue to expand!

Deck the halls with Boughs of Holly fa-la- la-la- la, la-la- la-la! Now I’m guessing you couldn’t help but sing along with that could you? Well… get ready to sing some more, because the holiday season is approaching fast! You’ll be hearing the students of Monument Square Community Music School hard at work learning their favorite holiday songs. Along with tons of music, we have a lot of new and exciting projects and events in the works, including a monthly Jazz Jam that will happen at 6:00 PM on the first Sunday of every month at Monument Square Community Music School with an entry fee of $5. We have created this event to give intermediate and advanced students a chance to meet and play with other musicians and to also create a space where students and musicians can show what they have been working on. All are welcome to come join the fun even if it is just to listen. Each Jazz Jam will feature a band made up of teachers and other performing musicians. It’s always a ball here at Monument Square and we look forward to seeing and hearing our students continue to grow everyday.
